If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a teacher of movement, it’s that movement heals. Being on my feet for 5-8 hours a day, sitting for at least 2, and all the movements inbetween are possible for me because of a consistent movement practice. But not just any movement, but QUALITY movement and CONSISTENT movement.
The Pilates method provides me with both quality and consistency, and it can for you, too!
Stretching my body with strength and control allows me to be on my feet, moving about fluidly, for 5-8 hours every day.
How do I achieve a consistent practice, you ask? By doing it on a schedule that works for me. Even if its only 15 minutes one day. Even if it’s at 8:30pm after a long day.
And now you can, too. Soul Body Works’ Open Studio (self-practice) program allows you to come in during a time block (for example between 3-6pm) and practice. This allows you greater flexibility with your schedule (perhaps traffic has you running late) and the ability to practice MORE OFTEN for a LOWER PRICE.
How does it work?
First, you’ll need to complete a minimum of 3 private sessions to learn the basics. During these sessions, you will become familiar with the exercises, equipment, and guidelines for Open Studio practice.
Once you’ve been cleared for Open Studio practice, you’ll follow these steps:
1) Book your time via the Mindbody app or on our website here.
2) Arrive within the specified time (example 4-6pm)
3) Grab an iPad and a stand
4) Sync up your headphones with the device (we recommend THESE)
5) Choose your apparatus (reformer or mat)
6) Choose your workout from the offered playlists
7) Enjoy your workout!
